A few little rhymes To help you through these difficult times

Catholic Care closed its residential home for adults with a learning disability in Dewsbury in February for redevelopment and the residents all moved to a new home in Elland. They have settled in really well and the “Stay at Home” instruction given by Boris Johnson has provided them with the opportunity to tackle the garden. What great results!

A few little rhymes
To help you through these difficult times

STAY HOME STAY SAFE STAY ALIVE
That’s our mantra in order to survive

So it’s more of listening to Boris
And less of watching (Corrie’s) Norris

No touching, keep your (social) distance,
At the Health Minister’s insistence

We’re all washing our hands
To the tune of marching bands.

We’re watching (really) old episodes of Emmerdale (Farm)
Surely that can do us no harm

Some are missing going for a cappuccino
But are making do with Gordon, Fred & Gino

Jennifer is still having her wine
Whereas John prefers gums with his wine

We’ve had haircuts from the in house “barber”
But would really love to visit a seaside harbour.

The lawn we have been mowing
And plants we have been sowing

Donald’s been in the garden raking
Whilst Graham’s in the kitchen baking

Although the garden belongs to the Church
We don’t want to leave them in the lurch

At least the weather is hotting up
As this virus is not letting up

We look forward to 8 o’clock on a Thursday night
So we can go out & clap with all our might

If we didn’t laugh, we’d cry
As let’s face it, we don’t want to die

We’re still doing our best
With added vigour & zest

After all, we are key workers
And none of us are shirkers

In this uncertain time, our faith is a must
No matter in whom we trust

During this period of lockdown
We can only do our best & knuckle down

Guided by Carol & praised by the Trustees
Coronavirus won’t bring us to our knees

So with a prayer in our hearts, we will turn this tide
As we really look forward to seeing everyone on the other side.
