Falls Prevention – Stay Active to prevent Falls!

Did you know that around 1 in 3 over 65s and half of those over 80 will fall every year?  Yet falling is not an inevitable part of ageing.

Once we have fallen we may be wary of falling again and reduce our activity or we might encourage a loved one to reduce theirs.  However reducing activity can actually increase our risk as our muscles and bones lose their strength and density.  Staying active is important for us all – walking, gardening, housework and dancing are all helpful.
