Summer Holiday Sessions held for the first time for children with Autism

As Catholic Care continues to expand its services for children with learning disabilities and particularly those with Autism, our Family Support Team ran 5 summer holiday sessions for the children we support.

Children and carers alike enjoyed trips to Gulliver’s World, St Ive’s, Cannon Hall Farm, Ponderosa Therapy Centre and swimming at the Richard Dunn swimming pool which proved a real favourite with the children.

Each session was carefully planned for a maximum of 8 children which included boys and girls aged 5 – 12. These sessions were not only great fun, they also introduced the children to new experiences and there was a learning element involved such as appropriate contact with animals, socialisation and general life skills.

Our thanks go to the Keighley Community Transport Project for providing the transport.

The sessions were a great success enjoyed by all taking part and valued by the children’s parents/carers. We will be looking to run this holiday activity again in the future.
