Catholic Care’s Community Markets

A huge thank you to our partners who are helping us to deliver six community markets across the Diocese. Our current partners include Neighbourly allowing us access to Aldi and Lidl, FareShare which gives us access to Tesco surplus food and Warburtons bakery donating 100 loafs of fresh bread a week. We also want to thank those of you in the Diocese collecting tins and dried food for our stalls, the school staff who support us each week and the Clergy across the Diocese also helping us to make this happen!

One of the great privileges of managing the community market team is hearing the feedback from some of our customers. Lauren delivers her market from the steps of Corpus Christi Church on a Tuesday afternoon along with her regular customers, she was spotted by some of the local older residents who were delighted to see what Catholic Care were actively doing in their local community. One local resident said ‘it’s great to see this in our community, thank you, I’ll be dropping by every week’.
Debbie delivers her market at English Martyrs in Wakefield, Debbie said ‘I look forward to Fridays when I get to see all my friendly customers!’. Sue’s market is at St Winifred’s in Bradford on a Wednesday morning. Sue said ‘the parishioners and families from school have been collecting stock for us, it’s amazing how kind and caring this community is.’

We are expanding our community markets over the coming weeks to include Holy Family and St Michael’s Pontefract and St Williams in Bradford. Watch this space for more updates.
