Some of the people we care for and support in one of our supported living homes for adults with a learning disability in Bingley, West Yorkshire, decided to do something a bit different for Easter this year. We hired a car, a mini MPV which can seat 7 people so it was lovely and spacious and ,over the Easter weekend; Friday to Monday, four people who were not going to their families for Easter, instead enjoyed a series of day trips. On Friday we went into the Dales to the Hawes Creamery; famous for Wensleydale Cheese and of course Wallace and Grommit. We all watched a demonstration of cheese making and looked around the museum before enjoying a lunch of local produce. On Saturday we drove to Knowsley Safari Park where we spotted lions and various wild animals. After lunch in the café, a walk through the giraffe house and a visit to see the elephants we returned home. On Sunday all the tenants enjoyed an Easter roast at the local carvery… a special meal for a special day! Finally on Monday; fortunately the best day for the weather, we went to Morecambe, where we all strolled along the promenade, completing the weekend’s activities with a fish and chip lunch in a seaside café. What a great weekend.
