History Making

This month the First Tuesdays group at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, started as part of Catholic Care’s Embrace project, invited local historian Dave Mason to speak; we had a record attendance of 40 people and the talk was really captivating.

Dave read from ‘A Pennine Boyhood’ by Roy Mason which is about a local lad’s childhood in the countryside around Silsden, his adventures and insights into some of the local characters like “Dick o Tobes”.

Dave left us thinking about our own personal histories, ‘You yourself are a product of history, the things you did will never be done again as they were. Think about which decade you most identify with and write it all down..!’
