At Catholic Care we run a Holiday Hunger Project. Evidence tells us that for those children who receive free school meals when the holidays come they and their families go hungry. There simply is not enough money to stretch to provide additional meals. At Christmas time we support these families through our Christmas Cracker Hampers.
It was an early start for the School’s, Children and Family Wellbeing Team on Thursday 19th December as hampers were put together from our great collection of food, donated from schools and parishes, and cars were packed full of our Christmas Cracker Hampers! 60 of the most needy families from across the Diocese will receive a hamper containing everything they need for Christmas dinner, soup for starter, fresh vegetables, a large chicken with all the trimmings and a deluxe chocolate Yule log for desert. We also included the Christmas crackers of course! We also included enough food to support the family across the Christmas school holidays. Happy Christmas to all our families
