Catholic Care’s Stay & Play Groups at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Keighley Catholic Centre attended the Bradford Libraries Rhyme Challenge Awards at City Hall on Tuesday 9th July 2019.
The groups had a busy Spring Term learning a variety of rhymes – including Five Little Speckled Frogs, Jack in the Box and Twinkle Twinkle Library.
Their Group Leader Rachel Parker won the Best Individual Practice Award and the group based at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School won the Voluntary Sector Runners Up Award.
Learning the rhymes enabled the children to share an activity with theirs caregivers and siblings. Each week the children learnt a rhyme and had craft activity to compliment it within the sessions. Rachel introduced the programme to several primary schools.
The groups operate on a Monday and Wednesday Term Time only and are currently looking or volunteers to assist in their development.
Please contact Peter Simmons at Catholic Care on 0113 3885400 for more information on volunteering.
The new term begins for the groups on Monday 9th of September at St Joseph’s and Wednesday 11th September for the group at Keighley Catholic Centre. Please contact Rachel Parker on 07739 975025 after September 2nd 2019 for more information on the groups.
