At Catholic Care we are looking for an experienced, passionate and committed Support Worker for a new outreach service. Someone who believes that it is the fundamental right of everyone to be treated in a way that respects their dignity and privacy.

The support worker will encourage and enable deaf people to live with independence within their catholic and local community and promote their confidence and achieve social inclusion.

The Charity provides excellent standards of person centred support to maximise individuals independence and quality of life.

 

Job Title: Support Worker to the Catholic Deaf Community

Salary: SP 3 currently £19,100 pro rata

Post: Part Time Position (including weekends)

Location: West Yorkshire

Job Profile

You would be required to work, in a person-centred way, to support the Catholic Deaf Community in coming together to share their faith. To work towards breaking down isolation and creating a caring warm community where everyone is welcome. In addition to provide help and support with daily challenges which could include  form filing and supporting attendance to appointments.

Duties would include assisting with signing at Holy Mass. Working with the Chaplain for the Deaf with liturgical events. Arranging a programme of social events, advocacy and information sessions to help with communication in the Deaf Community.

Experience and Qualifications

You must have achieved a minimum of Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language, educated to GCSE Level (A-C) including English and Maths or equivalent. Posses a Full Clean Driving Licence. Demonstrate relevant work experience.
