Blossom Keep is not simply a place for children to live. It is a small, nurturing children’s home where relationships, belonging and hope are at the heart of everything we do.
As part of our Steps for Tomorrow service, our purpose is to provide children with the safety, stability and therapeutic care they need while helping them move towards a loving and lasting forever home.
We are proud of the positive feedback received following our recent Ofsted inspection, with the full report awaiting publication. We are now looking for an exceptional Residential Care Worker who shares our ambition for children and wants to become part of the next stage of Blossom Keep’s development.
About the role
As a Residential Care Worker, you will become an important and trusted adult in a child’s life. You will provide consistent, compassionate care and help children experience the ordinary moments of childhood that build safety, confidence and belonging.
This might mean supporting a child through a difficult moment, helping with schoolwork, preparing a meal together, celebrating an achievement or simply being there when they need someone who will listen.
You will:
- Build safe, trusting and meaningful relationships with children.
- Provide nurturing, trauma-informed and child-centred care.
- Help children understand and manage their feelings and experiences.
- Support children with education, health, family relationships and personal interests.
- Create positive memories through activities, celebrations and everyday experiences.
- Maintain clear and thoughtful records that reflect each child’s journey and progress.
- Work collaboratively with families, social workers, schools and other professionals.
- Contribute to a safe, warm and welcoming home.
- Provide care that is consistent with safeguarding requirements, regulations and the home’s Statement of Purpose.
The person we are looking for
Qualifications and experience matter, but so do warmth, emotional intelligence, curiosity and the ability to remain alongside a child when things feel difficult.
You will be someone who:
- Sees the child behind the behaviour.
- Understands that trust is earned through patience, consistency and honesty.
- Can remain calm, thoughtful and compassionate during challenging situations.
- Is able to reflect on their own practice and learn from others.
- Recognises the importance of teamwork and clear communication.
- Can combine professional boundaries with genuine warmth and care.
- Believes every child should be able to experience safety, belonging and hope.
Previous experience of supporting children or young people would be welcomed, although we are also interested in people with the right values and transferable experience. You should hold, or be willing to work towards, the relevant Level 3 qualification in residential childcare within the required timescale. A full driving license would be advantageous.
