What is Caritas Leeds?
Caritas is the Latin word for charity or love. It reflects the Church’s mission to put faith into action by serving those in need with compassion, dignity and hope.
Caritas Leeds brings together the charitable outreach and social action taking place throughout the Diocese of Leeds. Coordinated by Catholic Care. Caritas Leeds exists to support, encourage and connect parishes, schools, charities and volunteers as they live out their faith through service.
Whether a parish runs a food bank, befriending group, warm space, parent support group or another local initiative, Caritas Leeds provides a shared identity that celebrates and strengthens this work across the Diocese.
We also promote Catholic Social Teachings across the Dioceses, working in partnership with the Vicariate for Education, ensuring Catholic Social Teaching is at the heart of everything we do
Supporting Parish and Catholic Charities with Social Action
Caritas Leeds exists to help parishes and other Catholic Charities grow in confidence as they serve their local communities. We do not take over; we simply support and coordinate the wider call to action.
Through shared resources, networking opportunities and practical guidance, we aim to encourage collaboration and help more people become involved in serving others.
